Description : Hemudu Site is found in 1973. The total area of the site reaches 50000 m2, overlying four cultural layers. Upon determination, the year indicated by the lowest layer is 7000 ago. Through the two scientific excavation in 1973 and 1977, around 7000 pieces of relics including productive tools, life utensil, decorative art crafts and artificial grain relics, constructive components of pile dwelling made of bones, jades and wood as well as plant and animal remains were unearthed, fully reflecting the prosperous images of China's primitive society in matriarchy period. The excavation of Hemudu site provide valuable material proofs for study on oriental civilization including agriculture, architecture, textile, art of that time. It is one of the most important archaeological discoveries since 1949, the founding of the P.R.C. The unearthed Hemudu relics once attended exhibitions in overseas countries for times and stunned the whole world.
