On the ninth day, December, the 10th year of Jiading Reign in Southern Song Dynasty (namely on 7th January, 1218), Emperor Ningzong issued the imperial edict, with the title of the emperor’s reign “Jiading”, Jiading County was established in eastern part of Kunshan. Zhouqiao Scenic Area is located at the old urban are of Jiading. Around Zhouqiao Old Street, there are such famous and historical relics as Fahua Pagoda, Confucian Temple, Qiuxia Garden and so on. Zhouqiao Old Street got its name from an ancient bridge (Zhouqiao Bridge) built in Southern Song Dynasty. Around this Old Street, the style of classical buildings in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty is preserved. This Old Street is still the most prosperous historic street in Jiading, and presents the strong style at watery region in Southern China.
