Jason Williams dribbles a ball and interacts with Songjiang locals.

Jason Williams, the legendary NBA basketball player nicknamed “White Chocolate,” visited ancient Sijing Town in Songjiang District to meet local fans and players on August 25.

The activity was part of an NBA stars’ China tour cosponsored by Shanghai Sports Federation and NBA China. Sijing was chosen as a stop on the tour to give the players experience of a typical water town in East China.

At Masi Hall on Kaijiang Road M., Williams was enjoying a shadow puppet show when a puppet based on the player appeared. Williams immediately went behind the screen to add his own performance.

Later Williams went to Songjiang No. 4 High School as an honoured guest at the 2018 Shanghai Amateur Games Basketball Competition Songjiang Sijing Company Invitational Tournament.

After the competition there was a technical challenge time trial which required participants to circumvent barriers and take penalty shots.

The last but one participant finished in 17 seconds, whereas Williams completed the trial in 18 seconds.

The winner received a free ticket for the fan day at the NBA China Competition Shanghai Leg and took photos with Williams.

Combining art performance with sports activities, the NBA stars’ Shanghai tour was aimed at revealing the charm of the city, according to its sponsors.

Williams, after receiving a shadow puppet as a gift, said he would perform the show he had learned to his children back home.
